Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a moderately hazy, medium golden amber with a two finger white head with great retention and solid lacing. Aroma of lightly caramel pale malt, dank and fruit hops, mixed tropical fruit, a little light stone fruit and some herbal dankness. Flavor is pale malt, citrus and dank hops, grapefruit, lemon, mixed tropical fruit and catty dankness. Solid, but not assertive citrus rind bitterness in the finish. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. The haziness of this one surprised me at first; when I try brew from a new brewery, I try to get a style that I like, and that is usually not a hazy IPA. Fortunately, although apparently unfiltered, this had more of a West Coast profile and good bitterness. The hops lean to grapefruit rind, but some other fruit and some nice dankness too. The aroma was quite different than the taste, which was interesting. A crisp, pleasant IPA, but nothing earth shaking. A very attractive graphic on the can, but somewhat odd because octopuses don't have tentacles (squid do). Still, eye catching.
