On cask at the White Horse Pub, Parsons Green, London. Had it at the suggestion of my server, paired with my bangers and mash.
Showed up completely sans head, rather flattish. Now, I know cask beer in general, and English beer in particular, can be flatter than average. But really...this had no hint of head or lacing or anything.
Undaunted, I went on. Smell was fine, typically malty with a nice hop floral and bitter tone to it.
Taste was downright redemptive for this beer. The malt sweetness was unobtrusive, and the hops were noticeable. Nice hints of vanilla here and there. Very well structured.
Mouthfeel suffered due to the lack of real carbonation. Maybe the beer sat too long after being pumped, maybe the cask wasn't done up right. I'd have to try it somewhere else to be sure, but it was still flat. And that affected the drinkability, too.
I think if I had this with some proper carbonation, I would've rated this higher. I hope, that as other reviews come in, we'll find that my experience was an aberration rather than par for the course for this otherwise good beer.

Another crystal clear cask ale that "pulled" a light amber. Off white head left good lacing. Good aromatics from the hops that exuded health and freshness. Ultra smooth with a subtle fruit character. Full bodied yet refreshing. A very refreshing, representative, of the style. Can't get enough of those traditional cask bitters.

Tasted this beer at the Cross Keys pub in City, London recently.
A: slightly hazy amber colour, with a very thin beer head and as flat a body as I can observe.
S: very plain note of slightly sweet/sugary malty and light caramel malty flavour, against the backdrop of mild peachy aroma and some flowery hops.
T: a flow of lighty nutty malts combines with a soft, tea-like texture of bitterness, with increasing floral hop flavour on top of a refreshing aftertaste of nuts deeply at the back. Smooth and clean aftertaste, with a mild but lingering, leafy bitterness.
M&D: the mouthfeel is as smooth as refreshing; the most enjoyable element is surprisingly the cold-tea like settled texture of hops and mild tannin, causing a slightly stimulating (like aftertaste of roughly crushed Sichuan or black peppercorns) mouthfeel on the sides of the deep end of the tongue. Not bad and worth trying.
