Now a bigger beer at 9% , this is a hidden gem in the BC winter seasonal scene. Lots of smoothness coupled with a full mouthfeel and a dryish finish make this one of the most drinkable Dopplebocks in BC. I could barely notice the ABV as I finished a sleeve and ws impressed by the rounded malty midbody. Dockside make much better lagers than ales and this is one of their best

On tap at Dockside Brewery, January 2010.
9% abv this year.
Appearance: Deep gold with white head and good lace.
Aroma: Fruity, yeasty, malty. Alcohol nose.
Taste: Malty sweet, a little fruity, slightly Belgian tasting yeastiness. Hint of spice. Strong syrupy honey flavour that isn't too sweet but takes over the malt. Distant hop finish.
Mouthfeel: Full bodied.
Drinkability: Pretty strong but tasty. Winter warming lager. Wouldn't mind a little more hop in this, however. But that's just a personal preference.

The name means little as the colour is very light, it is very bitter, particularly in the finish. The aroma was hoppy and malty. There was lace. Body is on the light side and though lots of hops, it is akin to a more hoppy pilsner taste. Above average carbonation.

I had this on tap at the brewpub.
A: Very clear, golden colour. Off-white head, poor retention, but a hint of lace.
S: Bready malt.
T: Bready malt, slightly fruity (a little much for a helles, but it is a 'winter' bock), a little buttery, with warming alcohol throughout. The hop flavour isn't apparent, as with some lighter-coloured bocks.
M: Moderate body and carbonation.
D: Good. The half-pint went down really easy!
