A:
Pours a clear ruddy copper with a three fingers of hefty beige cream that slowly drops to a gloppy finger or so. Good retention; clumpy, stringy lacing. (4)
S:
Spicy and resinous. Like a hoppy Oktoberfest beer with dark crusty bread, spicy hops, some resin. (3.5)
T:
Rich dark bread with herbal hops. Black bread, pepper, molasses, herbs. (3.5)
M:
Soft carbonation, medium-light body with a smooth finish, little much after a while, though. (3.5)
O:
Tastes like a hopped up Märzen.
It pours lovely and is very malty smelling and tasting. There is a sticky, goopy, resinous, sappy quality to it, but I don't feel like the principal flavor is hops. Malt, on the other hand... Drinks pretty nice, it gets a kind of sticky towards the end but in general is pretty interesting and tasty. Might have again (although I like the IPA Américaine a little better, to be honest); not really worth a shot. (3.5)
