A 10 oz draft pour into a Belgian tulip glass.

This beer is pitch black. The pour I received had very little head. It has a rich and strong smell, with hints of licorice. It is a very boozy stout, with a heavy bittersweet bite at the end. The beer is really thick, and leaves your tongue with a coated feeling and slight burn.

Overall, a pleasant and very potent stout.

On tap at Growler Guys the other day. The brewer from 7 Brides was there as well, and he indicated that this is a Polish Imperial Stout (as opposed to an RIS). There was a story behind the reference, but I forget what it was now.

The beer pours a blackish brown color with very good head retention and considerable lacknig all around. This beer certainly looks impressive. The beer is every bit as aimpressive on the nose, and there's really a lot going on here. The aroma profile shows considerable barrel aging, as I pick up a lot of vanilla and milk duds on the nose, along with espresso, light licorise and even some butter toffee. There's a hint of roasty malt as well, along with some light dry citrus. The flavor profile replicates the nose pretty closely in this moderately sweet stout, and there's no doubt this beer is quite the mouthfeel. The beer struck me as a bit raw around the edges (hoppy bitterness didn't seem to be as well integrated into the flavor profile as you one might like), but I can easily see that smoothing out over the next few months (my guess is that this beer will age well). Mouthfeel is fairly full, with a soft and creamy texture, but with a long and fairly bitter finish. Alcohol is well integrated into the flavort profile, though you can tell the abv. is up there a bit in this one.

An impressive effort from the folks at Seven Brides.
