Seven Brides was a recommendation from someone that I needed to grab whatever I saw from them while in Portland. Well, this was the only beer I saw from them all trip.
Pours out a dark black with a foamy cap that is left clinging to the glass.
The smell is a blend of hops and malty/roasty malts.
A very flavorful taste. Loads of rich malts with chocolate, roast and coffee. A large amount of hop character also that adds citrusy and piney notes. The finish is moderately bitter from both the roasty/coffee malts and the hops.
Very rich and heavier side of medium bodied feel. Soft carbonation as well.
One of the more flavorful Black IPA's I've had. Loads of character and depth. Represents the style beautifully.

A- Black as night, mocha head, plenty spongy lace.
S- Dark chocolate, roast, toffee, coffee, floral hops, some pine needles.
T- Rich chocolate, roast, toast, nuts, caramel, medium bitterness from a fair amount of floral and resinous hops.
M- Rich and creamy, smooth and coating. Thickness of a strong stout, but the drinkability of a sweet stout.
O- Not the hoppiest ABA, but the base beer is awesome. Should be an interesting one to age.
