Poured from a bomber into a pilsner glass. Bottled on May 19, which is about a month and a half ago.

Appearance: Pours a crystal clear gold and leaves two fingers of white head. Lots of carbonation can be seen bubbling up the beer.

Smell: Mild floral hops, some light malts, mild spices: coriander, grape, wildflower. Very light, balanced and refreshing smelling.

Taste: Matches the nose, very light, crisp and refreshing. Extremely balanced - malts, light hoppy tones and a mild, pleasant floral taste make up the backbone while some light spices add to the body. Very well crafted.

Mouth-feel: Medium carbonation, with a nice light to medium, yet somehow a bit creamy, body. Very, very smooth and well balanced.

Overall: This is an extremely well crafted beer of its style. Very light, delicate and refreshing. I could drink a lot of this beer. I can't imagine many things better than enjoying one of these on a hot day after some outdoor work.

 

 

 

Pours a nice 1 finger fizzy head that fades semi slowly, light soapy lacing, crystal clear golden honey yellow-orange color.

Nose is actually pretty good, a nice toasted malt aroma, grainy, mild husky and hint corn meal, mild minerals, but seems pretty clean, very faint grassy hop.

Taste is pretty clean too, crisp and refreshing like a lager but without the lager, grainy toasty malt again, little bready but not much, hint of straw, little juicy malt, and just a touch of bread. Hops come through a bit, just a bit grassy and very mild earthy taste, fairly mild bitterness though, little mineral quality. Finish is clean, crisp, very quick, little flash of grassy bitter hop, touch of bready malt and perhaps yeast, little dough.

Mouth is lighter bod, fairly crisp, decent carb.

Overall not bad, Rock Art still has the ability to surprise me from time to time. This is pretty good for a Kolsch, a style that most brewers seem to get wrong, and this was done pretty well. Not perfect, but still nice.

 

 

 

 

 

Bright golden clear body with white lacing. Smell and taste are the same, though taste has more depth: toasted grains, lemon, buttery malts, slight mineral, grass, and biscuit. Feel is spot on for the style, hitting the grains, slight citrus and earthiness, and being extremely drinkable and crisp. Best kolsch I have had to date

 

A: Medium straw color, good clarity, long-lasting shockingly white head.

S: Grainy malt, herbal, almost medicinal hops in the background. Slightly rough.

T: Smooth pilsener malt, just a hint of something heavier. Notes of pear and citrus along with a little flowery (think clover) hop flavor. Finishes with firm but gentle hop bitterness.

M: Super clean and refreshing; it just disappears from your tongue. I would like to see a little more carbonation, but very nice. A tiny bit of grainy astringency that would only matter to a reviewer.

O: Wonderful easy drinking beer for summer, or anytime you're thirsty. Definitely a winner.

A - Very light and clear golden body. Lots of noticeable bubbles.

S - Very faint hints of wheat and hops. Overall not very strong but very appropriate for the style.

T - This is where this beer shines. It tastes just like I would expect a Kölsch to taste. Very crisp, very refreshing.

M - Again, very light. The carbonation continues on into the mouthfeel and makes for a nice bubbly sensation on the tongue. Makes you want to go back for another sip.

O - Though I am very much a hophead this beer is great. Super appropriate for all of the hot and humid weather we have been experiencing here in Vermont the past several weeks. Would suggest this beer to the "Coors Light" crowd and the most gnarly of beer drinkers alike.
