Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a very dark mahogany brown with little light transmission in the glass and a fine, three finger khaki head with great retention and lots of lacing. Aroma of pale and dark malt, grassy and citrus hops, nuts, mixed citrus. Flavor is pale and dark toasted malt with slight char, citrus, dank and lightly grassy hops, hint of cocoa, lightly nutty. Nicely bitter citrus hop finish with a touch of lingering pine and char. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. A pleasant take on the Cascadian IPA style. The malt is bit laid back although it looks heavy in the glass, still has some good charry stout like character. Hop bill is somewhat unassuming, with vague citrus and grass, although a few more flavors develop in the finish, which also has a great lingering bitterness. Wish there were a few more of this style out there, but glad that Hop Capital made a nice one so I could revisit them; not had many of their ales since the day when they were Yakima Craft. Worthy
