Companyia Cervesera del Montseny "Aniversari IPA"
4€/33cl on tap @ Cocovail Beer Hall, Barcelona, ES
Look: The body is a hazy amber in color beneath a thumb's width of creamy white foam. Very good head retention and lacing. Very good head retention and lacing.
Smell: Resinous and "dank", and citrusy like Cascade and Centennial hops.
Taste: The flavor follows with a grainy and bready malt, some additional pine, and a solid bitterness that leads to a dry and citrusy finish with pine and grapefruit lingering.
Feel: Medium bodied and gently crisp.
Overall: This is a solid, take-no-prisoners IPA.

This IPA is quite citrusy and fruity in the nose but it's taste is rather bitter, you don't really get the fruits in there. Although I love hop bitterness, I would have expected it to be a bit more balanced on the zesty, fruity side. What I appreciate though is the kind of raw intensity of hops in the taste. Not bad at all.

330ml bottle from Carrefour supermarket, Barcelona (€1.99):
This one was quite a nice offering from Montseny & definitely the best of the three beers from them that I've tried thus far. Opening with quite a malty taste but there was enough fruits & citrus flavours backing them up to keep things balanced & interesting throughout. That being said, the balance could perhaps have been a touch better but for the most part it was a nice beer & one that I wouldn't be against having again; it's probably not one to go hunting for though but it is worth trying at least.

A beer half way between commercial and craft beer. Therefore, you can not ask for more. Correct correction without pretension but with beer. Okay to remove thirst.

330 nl. bottle. Amber colour, big creamy head that lasts forever. Lace. Smell of tropical fruits, pepper, herbal, citrus, pine. Medium to full body, creamy and fizzy palte. Crispy. Taste of citrus, tropical fruits, herbal tones. Good one, though the character is not as hard as the IPAs.

On-tap. CCM Lager glass. Enjoyed on jul´12 –at the Brewery at the 5th Anniversary celebration party-. Pours orangish amber in color. Foggy appearance. Off-white, very small bubbled, creamy froth shows a very good retention. Copious rings on sides & rocky lasting layer on top. A complex aroma profile brings pale malts, caramel malts, hints of grapefruit & citric to the nose. Also biscuit & mildy toasted bread touches. Oily & malty at first sip followed by gentle increasing bitterness. Voluptuous, ripe fruit texture –mango & apricot- & buttery palate. Medium but flavorful body. Soft carbonation. Very well balanced malts & hops but, finally, kind bitterness wins & lingers into a long ripe fruity & bitter finish. No astringency. Easy drinkability since ABV is well masked. Delightful & refreshing.
