On-tap at Tutta Bella in Wallingford, Seattle. I figure when you go to a restaurant that has a beer brewed specifically for it, you should at least try that beer. Tasted 27 July 2012, reviewed from notes.
Pours a very deep brownish amber, clear but dark enough that it's hard to see through. Brought with just a cap of off-white head. Decent lacing.
Smell is faint, a bit of toasted malts and faint herbal hops. Not much too it. Probably served on the cold side, but hey, this is the restaurant the beer is brewed for.
Taste is all about the toasted malts, with little else showing through. Tasting this without knowing what style it was, I pegged it as a maibock or similar, not as an amber. A faint bitter tinge comes through, but those bready, toasty malts are far and away the dominant flavor.
Has a full, rounded mouthfeel. Smooth, and pleasant, but not notable.
A very malty, very toasty amber ale. Light on the hops, and light on any malt character other than bready toasted flavors. Ho-hum.

This a deeper color amber than most of this type. It had an inch of head that lasted for a while.
The smell was strongly sweet, not a lot of hop scent here.
The flavor was malty-sweet, but not as sweet as the smell would have you believe. Very smooth, with just a touch of hops at the end.
The mouthfeel was very good, full and smooth but heavy or sticky.
Drinkability is great, I finished a growler during MNF without troube (of course, after the amber I had to have a couple IPAs to reset my tongue).
While not super hoppy like I like most of my beers, this is a smooth, easy drinking brew.

A dark bronze ale with a big splashy mouthfeel that washes thin during the pint. Tutta Bella tarts with an austere alt-like nuttiness but never develops strong characteristics in any direction with yeast tripe and tannic bitterness gaining more traction than any appreciable malt-n-hops combo. Brewed as a specialty beer for a local pizza chain, Tutta Bella ultimately suffers from Intrusive Yeast Syndrome. Not a clean amber for malt lovers.

Brewed for the Tutta Bella Pizza chain in Seattle, this beer was
served in a straight pint glass at the Green Frog Cafe in Bellingham, WA. Poured a nice amber color as expected. Poured with a little less than an inch of light tan head, that had little retention and left moderate lacing.
The aromas were the typical malt ones with a nice hop spice scent mixed in. The malt flavors dominated without being sweet and, as with the scent, a slight hop kick tingled the taste buds.
Just a little shy of full bodied, this brew was very satisfying on the tongue. Smooth, well balanced and VERY drinkable, this beer would be the zymurgystic equivalent of a red table wine that would go with most foods.
Overall a solid Amber ale, much better than Fat Tire, Alaskan, and most other widely available examples of the style, worth trying if you see it.
