I didn't have a lot of info on this beer, so if anything needs to be changed or added, please do so.
Served in tulip. Poured a nice black color, with about an inch of deep tan head that had moderate retention and mild lacing. The aroma had a nice roasted grain upfront, with some more earthy grains behind that. There was a a bit of an odd scent that may been from the yeast deep in the background.
On the tongue, the flavors were fuller and more well=rounded than the aroma had led me to expect. The same roast and grain notes were there and that slight funk was a touch more prominent. A bit of coffee roast lingered at the finish.
The body was a bit thinner than I look for in a stout, but was very clean and smooth. Drinkability was good, it went down easily and I would have a second during a sitting. Overall, a pretty nice beer. The Local Hero series allows homebrewers to get their ideas out to a wider group. This beer is certainly worth trying if you see it.
