Traditionally, the monks brewed this for their Lenten fasts. We just brew it because we like hearty German Lagers. Fortified by rich Munich Malz, and accented by noble hops, this Bock is nourishment for the body and soul.

On tap, first visit. Reddish brown pour with no head. Aroma of malt and caramel. Flavor was somewhat malty, but a little thin... followed by dry finish. A bit over-carbonated, so not as smooth as I'd hoped. Not bad, but not sure if I'd revisit (this beer).

Off the tap this beer was a clear, garnet color with one finger of beige head. The retention was good as a collar and it left thin bands of lacing. The aroma was of crystal malt, floral hops and hints of caramel malt. The flavors were full of nuts and wood with malty backbone and a long, bitter finish that stuck as a slick on my tongue. Balanced and a good example of the style. The mouthfeel was foamy, the body medium and the carbonation high and prickly.

Had this last week when I went to the Run of the Mill for the first time.
Pours an amber color with a small head, not much lacing.
Smell is a bit muted, mostly all caramel malt.
Taste is malty, assertive carbonation really tickles the tongue.
Decent offering, but I wasn't wowed by this one, in fact, the red ale that I had there as well had a better amber/copper color than this bock.
