Our rendition of a rare German-style beer known as a Dunkel Weizen (meaning Dark Wheat). The slight sour taste from the yeast left in suspension is offset by the roasted hint of darker grains.

From a growler filled this past weekend.
Pours a hazy amber color with a thin head and no lacing.
Smell has a strong aroma of banana and clove with some malt sweetness on the nose.
Taste is similar to the smell, caramel malt sweetness throughout with some nice flavors of banana and clove, medium-high carbonation with a bread-y body and a semi-dry finish, very easy drinker.

Draught @ Run of the Mill Brewpub: This one pours a cloudy to opaque caramel color. There was a wisp of an off-white head. It left some lacing. It has a lighter nose. Wheat, some fruits and some malts. The body is a little lighter too. Wheat, touch of bitterness, malts, slightly dry finish. A touch of spices. OK.

Poured on-tap and served in a pint glass, the beer is a muddled, hazy, unfiltered looking brown coloring that is pretty much opaque, and it has little to no head on the pour. The beer has a bready aroma, with a rich, dark molasses and caramel sweetness to it. Smells like a meal in a glass. The beer's flavors are supersweet malt, both caramel and molasses once again, and some nutty notes, with a toasted grain character as well that does a great job to balance the brew. The beer is robust and smooth in mouth, almost creamy. Aftertaste is a blend of the nut and caramel sweetness, and the beer has a slightly cloying finish. Very good, solid beer for the style.

This is a nice hazy amber-colored ale with a fluffy head. The head dissipated quickly, though, but not due to a lack of carbonation. Sweet and citric aroma is impressive. Taste does not disappoint; hops and malt are nicely balanced. An extremely drinkable beer. Would order this again.
