Tasted by half-pint at the Basketmakers Arms, Brighton.
A: dark tawny colour with caramel hues, coming pretty static and without a considerable beer head.
S: lots of spice (featuring coriander?) float on top of a vinous, sour-sweet berry-fruity note, while a soft bed of caramel/dark malts sits firmly underneath. Interesting~~
T: the vinous/sour-fruity palate upfront is backed by a caramely malty backbone, along with zesty hops, sour berries, and an increasingly bitter and dryish spicy taste like anise, coriander seeds, and even a touch of ginger; slightly medicinal aftertaste with bitter hops detected in the end.
M&D: refreshing mouthfeel with delicate fizzy support, this beer's body is rather thin for a "winter warmer". But given the intriguing spicy entry (with or without real spices added I'm not sure), it's made all the more drinkable.
