Recommended by one of the nice guys at the Foodery in Philly.
Pours with a nice dark color with a good-sized light brown head. Complex aroma of sweet malt, bread, and hints of fruit and what smells like licorice to me.
Taste is overwhelmingly malty and sweet with some fruity and bready notes coming through in the finish.
Smooth, creamy mouthfeel might be my favorite thing about this one.
Overall: For the price, a very nice brown ale with lots of malty goodness and enough complexity to keep me paying attention to each sip. Definitely worth a try.

Picked this up at the Foodery in Philadelphia. The pours out a dark amber body with a slight off white head that leaves no lacing. Scents of malt sweetness mixed with a fruity tartness rise from the glass. There are also notes of a roastiness about it too that come through. The taste starts of with a light roasted malt flavor that is a bit sweet from caramel. Its a bit syrupy going down and there are notes of various fruits throughout the flavor. Mouthfeel is creamy with a medium body. Pretty good drinkability here if you in the mood for a really malty brew. Overall this is pretty good and would definitely be for the malt head.

I'm not sure that this is a brown ale at all, it came across as a standard English pale ale or ESB to me. A glowing amber colour with red highlights and a fluffy tan head. The aroma is very malty up front, with sweet fruits coming to mind. There is also an excellent herbal hop aroma in the background of this brew. This stuff tastes excellent. Fruity and malty like some fresh backed biscuits and jam. This also uses the George Gale yeast strain which is very reminiscent of Fullers' if you ask me....Mouthfeel is medium bodied-full and very smooth and creamy. Drinkability is very good as well. A superior ale? Questionable...A superior session ale? Definately!

Appearance is a very nice deep copper / brown color, with a good frothy, sticky, tan colored head that hangs around good while. On the nose the aroma consisted of hints malt, toasted bread, dough, caramel, and grains. Mouthfeel is smooth and dry. On the palatethe flavors were of caramel, toasted bread, light hints of butterscotch, very light fruity esters (orange peels evident), dough, grains, earthy dryness
full flavored. Very enjoyable brew, and the low 4.6% abv. makes this a very good session brew
