Bottled beer served in a glass.
Appearance -
Cloudy orange-brown colour. Off-white, 2cm thick, fluffy cappuchino head. Moderately carbonated. Little lacing.
Smell -
Smoke, roasted malt, coffee beans, choc orange, sweet apricot.
Taste -
Plenty of hops, coffee, roasted malt, leaving a salty, bitter aftertaste and hints of wood/barrel-aged whisky.
Mouthfeel -
Not much bite from the carbonation, moderate body, clean, crisp, not a whole lot going on.
Overall -
A very unique beer. Quite strong salty, whisky flavours set it apart from many other lagers, and there's more than a hint of black ipa in the flavouring as hop flavours are balanced with roasted malt. Some aspects are a bit rough around the edges (mouthfeel isn't the liveliest), and it can be a bit bitter, but it really is an intriguing brew.
