Been a while since anyone has reviewed this one. Picked my bottle up thanks to the Bruny Island Cheese Co.
This is a light absorbing black colour with a creamy, thick tan head. Great head retention.
Roast barley up front on the nose followed by touches of cacao. Light fruitiness and even some alcohol. Classic.
A touch of sweetness on the palate then it fades to a wonderful roasty bitterness. Lightly fruity, slightly chocolatey. A bit of alcohol. Nothing overpowering.
The mouthfeel is slightly thin but it suits the flavour profile of the stout. Not as sweet and thick as many oatmeal stouts but it is delicious.
A tasty stout. I like the balance of flavours despite the slight lack of body.

750 ML poured into a wine glass
A-- Pours black. No light penetrating at all. Two finger light brown head, quickly fades to film though. One ring of lacing left behind once it fades. Decent head retention even though it quickly fades back to film again. Very little carbonation showing with this.
S-- Coffee, dark chocolate and a slight bit of rolled oats. Good smell to this.
T-- Mostly dark chocolate and some coffee. Not as thick as the smell gives off and on the thin side for the ABV.
M-- Light bodied and medium to high carbonation. Finishes dry with touches of coffee acidity. More about chocolate and coffee than oats.
O-- Decent enough, I guess. I like a little more sweetness in Oatmeal Stouts and more oatmeal. A bit thin in the body and what flavors that are there go by the wayside pretty quickly.

Been hanging on to the bottle for too long now. Time to get into it.
Head retention could be a bit better but it could be the glass. Pitch black color with a thick foam tan head. It settles to a thin lace. Low carbonation.
Textbook aroma. Roasty, some coffee and chocolate. Decadent. A touch of alcohol hints at the strength.
Taste and mouthfeel just don't live up to the expectations here. A huge build up but it's not quite met. Not enough substance to back up what is expected. Goes down much to light. The taste leaves the mouth much too quickly so you never get the satisfaction of enjoying what has so much potential. Just finishes way too quickly.
Overall it's still an enjoyable beer. Just seems too thin. A bit more body and this would be fantastic.

A - Poured from bottle into a stein, beautifully dark - black but with a slight brown hue - with a big coffee-coloured head, which reduced fairly quickly with minimal lacing.
S - The aroma is of a classic oatmeal stout, could be stronger, but still good. Chocolatey malt with slight hops.
T - The taste is true to a stout/porter combination, erring on the side of milky chocolate.
M - Very nice in the mouth. Quite light for an oatmeal stout, but with a good oatmeal presence, very smooth..."silky" even.
D - I would like a little more complexity and thickness, but this beer is still perfectly drinkable and enjoyable...and clearly one of the better Oatmeal Stouts from Australia.

This pours a very dark brown with a generous beige head.
Some milk chocolate coming through on the palate. Not any obvious coffee.
More with the milk choc on the palate. Thought there might be more.
Great mouthfeel. Big and rich - just what I love in an oatmeal stout.
Not a whole lot going on with this one but very drinkable.
