Thanks to mulder1010 for the bottle.
Dark, dark brown that verges on black with a small, creamy tan head. Good head retention for such a tiny thing.
Rich fruit cake and lots of oak. Alcohol. Some almost herbal notes. The whisky is very present. Interesting but a little unrefined. Anise, sugar, blackstrap.
Oily, alcohol and oak. Some anise and fruit. The thiness kills it a little. Slightly burnt but that may just be more whisky notes. Not all that in balance but actually a little tasty.
Watery mounthfeel with a decent moderate carbonation. Actually a little oily. Would be nice with just a bit more chewiness.
I don't mind this but it doesn't grab me. It is a bit acidic. The flavours are unabalanced. However, I can see where this is going and there is potential here.

Brown on the pour and when swirled, almost black in the glass. Minimal saffron-coloured head dissipates quickly, although reforms a tad better on swirling.
Nicely ashy and peaty, with aromas of aniseed, molasses, dark chocolate, raisins and muscovado sugar. Some medicinal and plasticy notes, but not enough to mar a very interesting nose.
Dominated by barrel characteristics, with little sign of the base beer (disclaimer: have not had the base beer..). Burnt figs, stewed plums, molasses and a tangy, kind of umami character.
Mouthfeel is a huge letdown, being gapingly thin to carry the bold flavours and the ABV. Minimal carbonation, but not the slightest bit syrupy - just barely there.
Barrel characteristics are great, but the insipid body lets this down in a big way. Still very much appreciate the thinking and effort behind this. Will definitely buy this year's version if brewed again.

145/180 bottles poured into a tulip
7 months on Lark Whisky Barrels Tasmania made Whiskey
A-- Poured a murky brownish black. Bits of ruby at the top of the head. No head, just film and a light brown collar on the sides of the glass. Little carbonation showing
S-- Barrel notes, mostly floral notes, dark fruits, char, ash, and after a while the base beer appeared. Willie Winter was the base so some spices like cinnamon and nutmeg appeared,
T-- Thin, watery, nutmeg, cinnamon, chocolate and whisky.
M-- Booze is noticeable in the mouth. Spot on carbonation for the beer. Very light body though. Quite slick though. Lots of floral notes, chocolate, and spices. Barrel treatment is good but the body of the base beer is thin and deteriorates quite quickly. Gets a bit rough. Watch for lark barrel beers from Australia. Good barrel to use for bigger beers.
O-- Like the treatment but the base beer is thin and watery. A bigger beer would so suit this barrel. Barleywine would work well with a lot of the Tasmanian Whiskeys made there. Or a big RIS.
Falls apart quickly due to the lack of body.
