Up Ya Kilt
11.1 % BA Scottish Ale in lark barrels for 6 months
500 ML bottle
Thanks to MrKennedy for sourcing the bottle from the brewery
A-- Poured and settled a hazy orange brown color. One finger light brown head. Near off white really. faded to a nice collar and film through drinking and left spotty lacing as well.
S-- Peat, smoke, oak, and more peat. Really dominated by the barrel. Took a while but did get some sweet biscuit malts towards the end of drinking this. Good nose but very little of the base beer.
T-- Thin body and once again dominated by the barrel, cask, whatever. Peat, smoke, ash, and oak from the barrel. What is from the body of the beer is faint and thin.
M-- Medium light bodied and medium carbonation. For the amount of peat the overall beer is pretty light and thin. Do get some of the base beer in the sweet malts but it takes a while to get to them.
O-- Body needs to match the barrel I think. Especially in this case. it drinks well and hides the ABV well but this is a showcase for the Lark barrel. A beer like Moo Brew RIS or Wild Thing would so work with this barrel it is not funny or a bigger bodied scotch ale would be brilliant. Either way have to applaud Seven Sheds for trying this. Some good things happening in Tasmania.
