Had on tap at Harts Pub in a pint glass
8% RIS done for St. Patricks Day
A-- Served black. Just tints of ruby at the base and near the head. Pretty simple I suppose. Half finger of light brown head that stuck around the film area after settling. No carbonation shown and left good ringed lacing through drinking.
S-- Lots of roast but a soft nose. Straightforward nose. Roast, coffee, dark chocolate and no hops. Very English RIS.
T-- Roasted malt, roasted coffee, and dark chocolate. No bite to this at all. Just an attack of roastyness.
M-- Coffee acidity really grows in the feel. Kind of a turn off. Really forward with the roast, no sweetness to smooth this out. Just coffee, roast and chocolate. Seriously needs some sweetness to mellow this out.
O-- Strengths, well hidden ABV and by style done well.
Weakness, weak nose, lacks sweetness compensate for the roast and coffee. Just became a harsh, acidic beer in the end. Interesting beer from a brewery that has a real good base range but this was just an average one off beer.
