Another Brazilian brewery on my waiting list to try is this brewery located outside of Porto Alegre. It was founded by a German-Brazilian who lived 13 years in Munich and worked at the Spaten Brewery, then came back to Brazil in 1999, and finally opened this brewery in 2006. Abadessa Export came in a 1 liter growler-like structure. Served at the Bierkeller in Porto Alegre, on to the beer:
This beer shines a straw blonde color in my chalice, with a bone-white, quickly fading head. The aroma of this beer is sweet mixed with straw and grass. The taste....consumed cold it is good, but allowed to warm up a little bit increases the intensity of the flavor, for the better. Grape-like hoppiness at the begining with a pale malt sweetness. Honey is mixed in. Straw flavor. Slight graininess in the aftertaste. But wow, the balance is great in this beer, which allows this to be consumed with ease.
Right on the money. Light, yet tasty and insanely drinkable. This is a great first impression by Abadessa.
