Love dopplebocks, poured on tap @ the brewery. Very little carbonation, nose is buttery caramel. Mouthfeel is a huge malty, syrup to ABV combo that isn't bad but comes off fairly flat & for me a little more carbonation would be a better mix

On tap @ the Winter Warmer festival. I tried this one a few times along with the excellent Imperial Stout. Cellar Rats represented with these beers and I'm tuned into what these guys are doing!
In my 6oz sampler glass, this looks very nice! The beer is a dark brown with hints of mahognay and even plum around the edges. An off-white head sticks around and leaves decent lace. A good start!
The smell is full of sweet malt notes and a touch of dark fruit, namely raisin and fig. There's some nice caramel malt underneath and very little flowery hop aromas. Little to no noticeable booze.
The taste is right where it should be IMO. It's a bit sweeter than some other local Americanized examples like Great Lakes Dopplerock, but there are very nice elements of caramelized and toffee malt plus dark fruit. There are just enough hops to stop this from being a sugar bomb. The hops don't come across as too bitter, but the add flowery and earthy touches.
The mouthfeel was substantial with nice carbonation and medium body. This was a nice, drinkable brew and I hope to get to try it again someday!
