From a 650 ml bottle (2014) into a tulip.
A-A normal pour doesn't produce much head, just a half-finger of white foam that fades pretty quickly to nothing. The beer is light in color with a yellow-ish golden hue. It is clear and pretty still-looking.
S-The aroma is heavy on the brett with fruity, funky, flavors -- and not tart acidity -- being dominant. I smell some orange, some lemon, some pineapple, and a bit of straw. There is also some bread dough.
T-The taste packs a bit more tart punch, but this beer is still funky rather than sour. The same tropical-themed citrus and brett flavors from the smell appear on the palate, but the beer tastes sweeter than it smells and less doughy. Some cider-like flavors on the finish.
M-The beer is a bit flat and watery. Bummer.
O-I like the saison that forms the base for this wild ale, but this beer wasn't so hot. The flavors are too brett-heavy and not nuanced enough for me. I can pick up the wine barrel but it doesn't add much to profile of the beer. The mouthfeel is also a bit underwhelming. If you love your brett, this might be worth picking up, but otherwise, it is a pass.
