Having this as a UK pint on tap at Vivo in Ikebukuro, Tokyo. Pours an amber red with a thin coconut colored head. Not much of a scent coming off of it. The first swallow has a nice toasted bitter flavor with something of a raspberry aftertaste. The 7% ABV shines through instantly warming the fingers and eyebrow ridge. The mouthfeel is pleasant and thick, appropriate for the alcohol content, making me suck the lingering taste out of the back of my throat. The foam really comes back to life inside my mouth like hydrogen peroxide but in a good woodland flavory way. Unfortunately, for being a respected ji-beer company, this brew is a little one-act in its scent and taste. I would recommend this for a try, but I won't be searching it out in the future.
