On-tap served in a stemmed glass at Mikkeller Bangkok.
Black in color with some hint of amber when hits the light, it comes with majestic foamy tan head that holds very good strength to stand against the time with great retention before slowly collapsing to a long-lasting bubble film on the surface and leaving magnificent amount of sticky lacing patch and spot.
The strong barrel aroma appears with notes of bourbon whiskey, spicy, oaky, cherry, berries, and vanilla. Some hint of alcohol too as well as tartness together with a touch of some roasted profile.
Surprisingly the taste is led by berries tartness and sourness. The roasted malt and bourbon character reveal in the middle with notes of spicy, woody oak, slight astringent, cherry, booze, and ghost-like vanilla as well as some toasted biscuit undertone. Hop only slightly discloses at the end with subtle bitterness.
The body is medium with smooth mouthfeel from its moderate crisp and some lively carbonation through the palate, very dry finish.
Of course it is rich in bourbon barrel character but somehow lack of Porter character being dominated all over by sourness and tartness.
