On-tap at the brewpub.
Pours one shade from black with a one-finger off-white head. The head recedes into a thin layer on top leaving decent lacing.
Smells of lightly roasted malts with good amounts of dark chocolate aromas. As the beer warms the chocolate aromas soften a bit and gains more of a milk chocolate edge.
Tastes similar to how it smells. Mildly dry roasted malt flavors up front sweeten midway through the sip with hints of dark and milk chocolate. The flavors join together and carry through to a mildly bitter finish.
Mouthfeel is good. It's got a nice thickness with moderate carbonation.
Drinkability is also good. I finished my glass without any problems and could have another.
Overall there's nothing overly exciting about this beer but it's solidly made and is worth a shot.

I have a fair amount of experience with porters, but this was actually my first one that I've had on-tap. Most bars I've been to rarely, if ever serve this style of beer. It was a very decent and a nice tasting porter. Usual taste of somewhere between coffee and chocolate, but still remaining somewhat light. Pleasant roasted, slightly metallic aftertaste. Interesting mouthfeel, a little more grainy than I'm used to for a porter. Didn't really have a negative effect though. I'd probably get it again if I came back here.

Served up in a house pilsener glass with a full inch of head. Beer pours a medium brown with red highlights and is relatively transparent and light for the style. Offers strong retention as the head dissipates to a surface ring only after 15 minutes or so.
Smells lightly of roasted malts and just a smidge of chocolate and hops.
Taste follows suit with light toasted malts typical of a porter. Midway through a tingly carbonation overwhelms the light flavors, which do return briefly in the finish. Feel is generally rather thin, as predicted from the clarity of the beer. Quite drinkable for a porter and in fact drinks more like a cola.
I assume this beer isn't trying to be a great Porter, just a light version of the style that is palatable to most people. Revisiting this beer after quite a while I find it to be more robust and flavorful. Surely worth a try if you're in the neighborhood.
