A recommendation by the bartender while sitting on the patio deck overlooking the Pacific.
Imagined it to be a lighter amber but this was almost a toasted almond color; more brownish. Not too hoppy but very refreshing and in a way was sweet tasting; a little sugary.
This was delightful but very light tasting as I expected more maltiness from an Amber but I was satisfied with the recommendation.

Poured on-tap at the Pacific Beach Ale House. The beer was poured in a pint glass with a pale amber color and a thin, foamy head. The beer has sweet smells, with a sprinkle of hops. Mild flavors of malt and caramel, with a hoppy undertone/foundation. The flavors are weak in general, but well balanced. The finish is also well balanced with hops and malt flavors, and a semi-sweet aftertaste. This is an easy beer to polish off by the gallon, but there are better things out there...

M - This beer has a medium body with medium carbonation to it
D - Another average at best beer it was just too light in the flavor to really make me want to drink this again

Round #2 was by the recommendation of the bartender. On to the beer:
Dark amber color, almost going into brown. Bright red hues all around. There is some head retention on top. In the nose, there is only a little but of malt hitting the nostrils. A little sugary, I might add.
Some amber ales are malty, and some are hoppy. This one is sugary and toasty for the most part. Glaze, like the sutff Honeybaked uses to glaze its hams, is tasted. Tea-like hops are light and are noted towards the back. Did I mention the malts are really toasty?
Ho-hum amber ale overall, not quite the "favorite" of the house beers that the bartender prefered. Still, it's a pleasant microbrewed amber.
