Bottle into a snifter. Jet black with a big light brown head that lingers for a few minutes. Great retention and tons of lacing. The aroma is dark chocolate, blackstrap molasses, roasted malt, vanilla, peat, and caramel. Plum, grape, and date meld with oak. Surprisingly vinous, the whisky presence is pleasant and well integrated with the base beer. The flavor is equally as good as the aroma, with peat, grape, and plum meeting chocolate and a smooth roasted malt character. The dark fruit is prominent and quite nice. There are also notes of vanilla and oak. The beer is full in body with an upper medium to lower high level of carbonation. There's some warming in the mouthfeel but no alcohol flavor. The mouth feel is simultaneously silky and sticky. Overall, an excellent variation of an excellent base beer.
