750 ml bottle into a snifter. Had 10/8/22.

Pours an opaque dark brown- ruby around the edge, with a quarter inch foamy head and light foamy lacing. Aromas of caramel, roasted malt, oak, char, chocolate, some strawberry, light bourbon. Smells smoky. Flavors of roasted malt, caramel, chocolate, strawberry (?), oak, char, light bourbon. Has a light herbal bitterness and a general fruity flavor. Smooth, a very good fuller body, well carbonated.

Does a pretty good split between a Barleywine and an Imperial Stout. Good aromas and flavors, would have liked a little more (actually, a lot more) barrel presence. The herbal hops make this lean to the Barleywine. Very enjoyable.

Poured from 750 mL bottle into snifter.
A: Pours a very dark brown with a distinct ruby hue emerging with backlighting. Thin light tan head with decent retention.
S: Clear stout and barleywine notes with dry dark chocolate, sweet vanilla, mild espresso, crème brûlée, Belgian candi sugar, and subtle bourbon and vinous notes.
T: Dry dark chocolate, bitter espresso with cream, roasted malt, vanilla, red fruit, and hints of sugar and wood char.
M: Medium-heavy body. Layers of malt sweetness, bitterness, and chewy fruit.
D: The different elements of stout and barrel-aged barleywine played better in the aroma than in the taste. A distinctly unique blended brew and one I’m glad I got to try.
