Atmosphere - 4.0
If it is cold or raining and you are stuck inside, it is a nice place but nothing too special. If you are lucky enough to arrive on a sunny, warm day, you have to take advantage of the large beer/cider garden, which is shady with lots of tables. A very relaxed place to be having a beer.
Quality - 4.5
The beers are all good, although the stout porter can very from above average to excellent. Cider is the best I've ever tried.
Service - 4.5
Free cider tastings with verbal tasting notes is very impressive. You can sample the beers on a $10 pony tray (5 beers), without tasting notes. Service is friendly although less knowledgeable about the beer than the cider.
Selection - 4.0
Five beers, a pale lager, kristal weizen, irish red ale, english bitter and stout porter. All good.
Food - 4.0
Uncomplicated, tasty food, hot and cold with good helping sizes. The ploughman's lunch is probably the best accompaniment to a beer or cider.
Value - $$ - reasonable
