Earth Bread + Brewery "Wetherby's Son"
Cask @ the brewery, $5 for 13 oz.
Appearance: Slightly hazy deep amber-copper body beneath a frothy head of white. Excellent head retention, very good lacing.
Aroma: Full, toasty and caramelish nose with a background of apple.
Flavor: The fruitiness is stronger and more varied in the flavor, adding a bit of pear. The toastiness remains along with golden and medium caramel in the maltiness. Grassy and moderately leafy hops are secondary to the malt but it still manages to finish fairly dry with a moderate bitterness and yeasty minerals note.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied and exceptionally smooth due to the cask and engine.
Overall: A rich and malty "extra special" bitter that hits the style perfectly. Perfect for cool weather!
