I hate writing this review about a beer I was very excited to try. I'm not sure whats wrong here, oxidation perhaps? Whatever the case I'm sure this isn't what the brewer intended. I love b-wines, barrel aged and otherwise. This one though...
a: This was a murky dark brown. It was served to me with no head.
s: Just overpoweringly hot and sweet. Sugar, sugar coated raisins, caramel, and extreme heat.
t: This is the sweetest beer I've ever tried. It was obnoxious and utterly undrinkable. Faint raisins and then sugary cough medicine with sharp, raw alcohol at the end.
m: Syrupy and almost still.
d: This is the first beer I ever sent back. Something was clearly very wrong and they shouldn't have been serving this. I don't like being this negative, but there isn't anything good to say about this beer. On a positive note, I otherwise enjoyed my first visit immensely. The other beer was great, as were the food and service. Damn shame about the Duke though.

On tap at earth.
A- comes to me filled to the brim so no head but even after a few sips and a good swirl only the smallest bit of suds arise. Murky chestnut brown in color.
S- big time bourbon barrel and sweet caramel. Toffee, dark bread, a touch of sherry. I keep coming back to the bourbon. I dig it, this nose is straight barrel.
T- opens up with a good bit of toasty bread dipped in caramel and a load of bourbon. Dark cadied fruits with dates and figs.
M- a tick less then medium in body and a light understated carb. Ill say this its hot on the palate.
D- if ya don't like a boozy bourbon barrel bw this ones not for you. I love a bourbon aged beer and this one is a monster. Not for the faint of heart.
