Amber with a thin, off-white head with decent retention and nice lacing. The nose is very rustic and grainy with spices, cocoa, a mild caramel, honey, floral and earthy hops. The basil isn't really basil-like, just a general cilantro-stalk like herbal-vegetal combination. The palate opens moderately herbal, with cocoa bitterness, burnt sugar, floral basil, a mild nutty honey character. Solid. Medium-light in body, moderately carbonation, this beer dries out on the finish with lingering honey, herbal character and some bitterness. Good stuff.
