Brewer described this as a pale ale brewed with black pepper. It's malty and spicy, but crisp and clean. The Belgian flavors are more on the spiciness and less of the yeast. Clear golden color in the 13 oz nonic. Carbonation is not so long lasting so drink up.
Sharp and clean flavors with a long malty, tangy, fruity finish. Definitely a little hot from the pepper, but avoids the all too common pencil shavings taste. Nose of honey, beery honey. Another excellent beer from Germantown-- easy access by train. [transcribed from notes - 05/29/2012 tasting]

Pours a hazed yellow straw, prickly bubbles form a small ring of head. Scent leads with spice, black pepper, yeast, firm but mild, light grassyness, bitter greens, biscuity malts, light tangyness. Taste brings components of scent together in a more palatable manner, unique tasting and faintly complex, lots of spice and bitterness. Medium bodied, lightly bubbly, crisp on palate, dry. Unique and moderately enjoyable.

First had: on tap at their brewpub
Poured a golden, straw-yellow, slightly hazy with a small white head. Biscuity aroma, fair amounts of grassy funk, and a touch of spice. Taste was similarly biscuity with malts, wort, grass, a bit of funk, but nothing overwhelming, leafy hops, slightly bitter in the finish. Light-medium body. Nothing extraordinary, but pretty solid, and decently drinkable overall.
