Dark amber in the 13 oz nonic. Light, lacy, english-style foam. The toasty taste is predominant. Grainy taste is pleasant and refined. Lots of Cluster hop flavor in a lower alcohol style of IPA.

Fruity nose. Spicy and resiny. Light bodied and fairly sharp, but the malty flavor provides a nice foundation. It gets bitter after awhile, but worth a try as an alternative to the common hop overdose. You could argue over what category this is, exactly, but overall it's a pleasant and highly quaffable lighter sort of Bitter.

On tap at the brewpub in Philadelphia. Notes from May 31, 2012 visit.

Pours a lightly hazed dark amber color, copper highlights, minimal head and retention. Scent features mostly fresh dried and lightly toasted cereal grain, lightly caramelized malts, small kiss of piney and floral hops. Taste again was cereal grain forward, hops disappointingly missing aside fro some pine and floral notes. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation. Its not a bad beer by any means and actually I enjoyed the cereal grain profile, just not as an IPA as advertised.

A growler generously provided by Sourbatchkid. Thanks, you rock.
General Cluster is dubbed as a amber style ale with an IPA amount of hops.

The cluster looks the part of an amber with a amberish color with some bronze/light brown poking around. Not a lot of activity on the top, just a skim of off white foam that has good stick to the glass. Smell is pretty caramel ridden with deep malts and a earthy tone as well. MAybe even a hint of chocolate, anyway, there is something sweet in there. Taste is pretty bland. I mean there is flavor, but it's all malt and grain and not a lot of hops rounding it out. In fact, I don't get much hop taste as at. I got a hit of earthy, slighty pine taste on the 1st sip, but after that, malt city. Sorry. This is very one sided and reminds me of some 1st attempts at home brew. Feel is less than medium with a malty finish, sweet and no bittering quality at all. The cluster is just that, general.
