Standalone building near other restaurants and retail shops. Generous parking lot out front. Open ceiling of a charcoal black color, beige and gray walls, brick accents, and a tile floor in the bar area and in the upper dining area. Bar is four sided with comfortable cushioned high chairs. Dining area has booths and tables. Bar has eight taps of Granite City beer, with year round and seasonal selections. Brewing equipment is in view through windows at the front. Growler fills are available. Also offers macro, wine, and full liquor service. Kitchen on site offers a full food menu, and all offerings are served at the bar. Staff is well trained and diligent. Clean and well lit example of this regional chain.

One of my better experiences at Granite City, very friendly service, helpful and knowledgeable. I wish all big chain places had happy friendly service like this place.

National food chain with excellent food, great bar and patio area, and local brewing. They have year-round and seasonal beer selections of their own beer, craft, and macro. They do growlers.

The food and the service are the highlights at this Granite City. The beer is OK - nothing special but enjoyable.
We had a small appetizer and burgers. The food was delicious although the pepper jack cheese on one of the burgers was VERY salty. The burgers were cooked perfectly and quite delicious.
Sweet potato fries were excellent.
I tried the Bock and Irish Red beers. Both decent but nothing spectacular.

My cousin took me to here when I was visiting him from out of town. After going to several different restaurants within the town I came to realize that Domestic Beers rule the city. Yet as we came to Granite City the atmosphere was a good one for 3 in the afternoon. Fairly talkative employees but lacked when it came to service cause the bartender was never present. When looking over the menu at what they offered there was quite a selection of items to have. But as my cousin and I were only there to give a quality beer a chance didn't order any food. Overall this restaurant has great potential if the waiting staff was actually there and not just the hostess.

Visited on a Saturday for lunch. Located in a shopping area, the building looks like a typical chain restautant from the outside. The inside is spacious and clean, with plenty of TVs for sports (or weather, as there was a blizzard coming the day we were there). The service was outstanding, as the waitress always arrived at the right time and even the other waitstaff there would come around and ask if we needed help. The food was great like all Granite City locations, and the beers were identical to all other GCs (all good, but nothing amazing). A great place to go for food, and a good place to go for beer.

I was in Sioux Falls on business recently and after having discovered this establishment on BeerFly, I suggested it to my host. We were all glad that I did. Even though I was the only beer drinker in the bunch, everyone agreed the food was superb! I highly recommend the honey / rosemary filet mignon. There was a good selection of interesting entrees - not just typical pub grub.
I started with their beer sampler to get a feel for what was available and thought everything was quite tasty.
Northern Light was okay for what it was - not my style but very appealing to the masses.
Brother Benedict's Mia Bock was very good - still not my favorite style but very tasty.
Broadaxe Stout - mmm good! Nice roasty grain flavor with just enough hop bite to make it interesting.
Duke of Wellington IPA - all right! Here's what I'm looking for. Being the hophead / IPA lover I am I was highly impressed with this brew. Fantastic floral hop aroma, floral / piney hop taste with a nicely balanced malt character. This was one damn fine beer. All Fuggles hops according to the brewer.
If you are in Sioux Falls I highly recommend it (according to the web site, there are 10 other locations in the plains and midwest). Quality of the beer, food and service was worth every penny.

Granite City is a brewpub in a variety of different locations including Kansas, Iowa, Nebraska, Minnesota, and the Dakotas. Just an hour drive down 29 to Sioux Falls SD.
The location was pretty easy to find. Located on the edges of a busy section of the city just north of Empire Mall on Louise Ave. The building is new and kind of upscale and is more of restaurants then say a bar. They have brewery equipment visible but I found out by the waitress that they no longer brew there. Instead they brew at a central location and ship it to the different sites. There they carbonate and serve it up on site.
The selection was limited to only their beer, which was ok, but even then they only had 4 different beers available. They advertised a 5th beer but really it was just a mix of two other beers they had (like a black and tan but was a mix of the Mai Bock and American Lager). The beer itself was not spectacular but I did enjoy their IPA.
The staff was very nice and friendly and willing to check on any questions I had. They didnt have any bottles to go but they did have growlers available (which were rather expensive). Also they had a sampler to try they different beers they had. One other bonus is that they had homemade lemonade but unfortunately they were out of it at the time.
The food was very good. Rather price but they gave full portions and the taste was excellent. The beer was about $3.50 but we didnt go during happy hour and they do have nightly specials for food and beer. I would say a plate was about $10.00 a plate. I was happy with my experience with Granite City, but I wonder how it differs from other locations

Big location in a strip mall. Well lit, modern decor. More restaurant than bar. The beers were about $3.50 a piece, i believe, with a fairly wide variety. I had the dopplebock and the IPA. I was interested in trying a glass of their winter warmer, but I was not about to try to explain why i was drinking beer from a wine glass. Service was good, she knew what I was talking about, beer-jargon wise, was pretty attentive, and hot, to boot. The beers were OK. I am a big hop head and IPA lover, and i was a little let down by the poorly-balanced beer they brought me. The dopple was good, and so was the food. I had a bbbq pork sandwich and a bowl of french onion soup. Not too bad, I would go back here.

Granite City of Sioux Falls is more restaurant that brewpub, which is not necessarily a negative. The vast majority of the building is designed for sit-down, family-style dinning. Yes, there is a bar and TVs for that sports bar feel, but it really is more of a restaurant that brews some beers.
My trip was on a Sunday, early afternoon, around 1:30pm. The place was very busy but we were able to get a seat in about five minutes. The service was quick and helpful. The beer selection is small and there is little need to ask the server about the beers. Speaking of the beers, I thought the six beers (made by Granite City) on-tap were all served too cold. They were served in mammoth 20oz. pint glasses though. I was deeply troubled by the fact they had two marco-light-swill beers on-tap. Plus they brew their own light beer, why have Coors/Bud/Miller too?
While the beer didnt wow me much but the food was plenty good enough for a return trip. Ill happily have their IPA and anything on the menu. The large portions are tasty, filling and worth every cent. The menus selection is wide enough to cater to all needs. Everyone in my party was impressed with the food.

Granite City is up front a restaurant with a bar area. Don't get me wrong, you can come in for a brew or more, but the theme is to cater to a sit-down meal, they attract families and singles, and do a great job of doing both. Each visit is a shining moment--the staff, always abundant and bouncing all over is eager, cheery and full of knowledge--of beer and food. You will be pampered by wait staff, managers, chefs, etc. The large wrap-around bar seats many, and there are numerous booth and table options, including a great deck with a small pond/waterfall and a decent view for Sioux Falls. TVs are abundant regardless of where you are sitting. There is no annoying background music like some of the chain restaurants.
Now to the food and beer. Menu and beer selection can be found on their web site. The beer selection is great. A beer menu at the bar and every table pretty much sums up the brews. The only knock is they seem to run out of beers which is a bit unusual, but still 6-8 selections are available during each visit. The beer-sampling tray is good, under $3.00 for 6-7 samples, each presented and explained thoroughly. Beers are also available in 10 ounce pilsner glasses and pints; growlers are also available. The Winter Warmer is an awesome kick-butt brew, but served in a wine glass. The food is outstanding, portions are LARGE, to be noted is the grilled meatloaf sandwich smothered with a spicy bourbon sauce and garlic mashed potatoes; the clam chowder is close to the best Ive tasted. The half-sandwich, cup of soup with a couple pints makes for an awesome lunch! Prices are reasonable, with a pretty long happy hour, mug clubs, etc. This Granite City is packed all the time, went there for lunch and by 12PM there was a wait to get a table. Ive gone for happy hours and the deck is packed in the summertime, so you have to avoid the rush if you dont like crowds. Definitely worth the visit!

This large brewery restaurant is half family, half sports bar. Several large TVs over the bar help you keep updated with the world sports scene, while the family can enjoy a nice meal on the raised floor adjacent to the several steel beer tanks at the front of the stone facade building. The service was VERY quick and attentive and the large-portion Western style cuisine was out of this world. If you get the ribs, definitely go for the mashed potatoes over the fries. Awesome.
