No, it doesn't taste at all like chicken and no actual chicken is used in the recipe. (Brewing with chicken has been done before though thankfully, not here.) The name was chosen whimsically at the end of the night when no one had any better ideas. Supposedly it suggests some sort of sexy double entendre, but I am conveniently too unhip to get it.
TLC is a brown ale with a dry, grainy aroma whose yeast strain causes it to taste more like a simple bitter leaning into brown ale territory than the big malty browns more common throughout the region. It is a reserved yet dignified ale in the customary British sense of it that Americans find boring. But its conditioning has been quite successful, the mouthfeel is silky, and its drinkability is intact as a session ale. Just don't expect excitement from this dark ruby ale. It is absent by design.
