It took me a couple of years to come back to 22 West. The first visit, when they were still pretty new, the beer selection wasn't great, but the service and food were good. Now, (3/2019) I think they've stepped things up. The Vibe was good then but better now, service and food remain very good with a nice menu selection and tasty appetizers and entrees. But the best part is now the beer selection is plentiful and about 15 or 20 draught selections are from NJ micro-breweries as well as other micro selections.

I would consider this my 'Local Bar' and frequent there a lot. Both bartenders and extremely nice and always provide wonderful service. It is normally a quiet smaller bar seating around 20 people. but a very nice atmosphere if your just coming to get a beer or two after work. Always have a good, varied selection of beers on tap which always includes at least 2 local/jersey brewed beers which is always nice to see.

I've been going to this Office location for a few years. When they were part of the Charlie Brown chain they had special deals during the week, All Day Happy Hour on Mondays(this meant $3 craft crafts) and on Weds. Craft Drafts for $2.79(+tax = $3). Plus on those days I got to know the bartenders and enjoyed speaking with them.
Once the new owners(that bought them from CB's) took over they stopped those deals, but just started a new one, Sun., Mon., and Tues. select craft drafts for $4,(they change from day to day)which isn't bad because they do have a pretty good selection, including a NJ group, beers from Kane, Carton , Flying Fish and so on.
But the place is changing, and not for the better, new managers are either letting long time workers go or just driving them out to get friends in to work there.
I don't just go to a place because of the beer, the people that work there are a big part too and if you don't know if the person you know will be there the next time you stop in, then that is a shame. And I may not be there the next time either.

my homebase as of late...

the place does feel like a beer bar for the most part, even if it's a chain. not too bright inside, old breweriana on the walls, and not too much upscale chic looking stuff. just a wooden bar with some chairs, and a restaurant section.

the wait staff is good, and if you've been in a few times, then they get better. they do recognize you and will chit-chat here and there. they usually know what the beers are like, but if they don't they've asked me what exactly they've got their hands on (which doesn't happen too often).

the beer selection is obviously why i go there. the craft selection on draft varies. some days it's great, and other times it's a dry spell. regardless, i've seen plenty of good regional stuff (troegs: HAA, ME, NN) (DFH 60 & 90), (ST Mokah), (victory: lager, pils, HD, HW) but not all at once! they still have the usual BMC suspects on draft as well...

the food, while i do eat it, is nothing too special. not saying it's bad, it's not super memorable either. the 'jersey burger' was the only one i really remember... mmmm... pork roll on a burger....

most nights happy hour = $3 craft pints! can't go wrong with that!
