a small brewpub right off the plaza santa anna that offers some food as well as 4 beers on tap, the tostada, the rubio, the auteur and the carmelizada. the beers are pretty inexpensive by madrid standards, and each beer comes with a free tapa, some of which (particularly the pork skewers) can be quite delicious.

well, the first time i came here i just stopped in by myself and the server was very nice despite my very limited spanish. he gave me two free beers and was pretty chatty asking me which beer was my favorite of the four and recommending tapas, etc.
i ended up coming back again and this time had a few more beers and ended up breaking a glass which they were very understandable about.

the beers are pretty good, esp the tostada and the carmelizada. and for madrid 4 beers is about as good as it gets so no complaints on the selection.

of course, there are going to be comparisons to madrid's other brewpub which is right across the way. the main difference is that naturbier offers fewer beers (of pretty much the same quality, although their rubio is better). in terms of food, they are both pretty comparable (not amazing but not bad). the biggest difference is that at naturbire you can sit outside on this beautiful plaza. however, they are not stupid and know that you want to sit out there so it costs like and extra euro and a half for a beer which is no joke.

anyways, by global standards this place is just pretty good but in a pretty much totally beerdry country like apin, this place is awesome and i preferred it to naturbier just for the larger beer selection and better service.

Located just off Plaza De Santa Ana, Madrid.

The structure is a railroad style bar with an open aired entrance and seating in the front. The long bar was located to the rear left of the place.

The draft list featured 5 or 6 house beers, which were relatively flavorless and expensive.

The atmosphere was chaotic, crowded and noisy. The service was poor, even for Spanish standards.

I would recommend turning the corner and patronizing Naturbier in the Plaza, with better beer, better atmosphere and better service.
