One of the best dry stouts I've ever had. Pours a dark colour, with hints of red and brown sneaking through when shone to the light. Big, fluffy brown head that slowly dissipates to nothing. Smells of brown sugar, dark chocolate, coffee, molasses, raisins, cherries and roasted malts. Taste is nice and balanced. The sweetness of the dark fruits is balanced with the bitterness of the coffee and dark chocolate. Aftertaste is of roasted malts. Mouthfeel is thin but not watery. Light carbonation. Overall, I like it. I'm glad I got it, and will be getting it again.

Pint at Volo from the regular tap. Fairly textbook stout appearance - pitch black body with a small creamy tan head that lasted the distance and gave up the odd spot of lace. Light roast aromas, mixed with chocolate and brown sugar. Good roasty flavour - not ovely intense, but balanced enough to make a good session beer. Bittersweet chocolate and hints of fruit lighten things up, and the slightest hint of sour in the finish keeps things interesting through to the end. Decent mouthfeel, bordering on the light, but I thikn acceptable in a dry stout.

This is a pretty decent example of the style, and a promising sign. I'll happily add this to the growing list of Ontario stouts I'm happy to see on tap.

On cask at Volo for St. Paddy's.

Pours a mostly clear dark red, brown highlights, very thin light tan head forms disappears pretty quick except for a very thin ring of bubbles, few lace spots stick to the glass. Smell is alright, caramel sweetness, some chocolate, light roast, raisins, vanilla, lightly fruity, strawberries, not bad but light. Taste is similar, some caramel and brown sugar, roast nuts, toast, touch of chocolate and coffee, very fruity, fresh berries, nicely balanced. Mouthfeel is low to medium bodied, feels a bit thin, low carbonation, smooth but a little light on the palate. Not a bad first shot at a stout, Publican House are making some solid beers.

Cask at Volo. Pours waery black with somke bubbly head, it looks fine. Roasted abrley aroma. Its dry, malt is secondary, not the driest for sure. Medium mouthfeel. It was tapped early, but its fine, and has that unfiltered freh element to it.Good drnkability to it.
