Served on-tap at Al's of Hampden.

A - Pours murky orange with a creamy two finger tall white head, dissipating down to a light film, leaving spotty webs of lace down the glass.

S - Smells of oak, old pumpkin skin, nutmeg and other pumpkin pie spices, toasted marshmallows, saison must, butterscotch and some mild bourbon heat. While I do get all of the intended aroma’s they are just a bit too jumbled up.

T - Starts off with a bit of dulled pumpkin pulp quickly giving way to the pie spices, marshmallow, butterscotch and a light warming from the bourbon. Wish the pumpkin would come through more, a bit too much supporting cast not enough star. Finish has some sweetness with a bit of warm bourbon mixed in, not lingering for very long after the finish. Booze is ever present, not making it any easier to consume.

M - Medium body with moderate carbonation. Smooth, spicy feel from start to finish. Doesn’t feel too bad but the clashing flavors all try and take over at the same time, combined with the high ABV, make this one hard to consume.

O - I feel like this is what would happen if I brewed a batch of beer with everything in my kitchen cabinet . I don't get as much of bourbon as others were getting, which was nice, but I also don't get a lot of pumpkin, which isn't so nice. Worth a shot if you like strange beers and like to try new things.

Draft offering served in a tulip-shaped pint glass. The brew appears a hazy copper color with a white silky head that retains decently. Some solid patchy lace clings to the glass.

The aroma includes quite a bit of bourbon tang. Some raw oakiness and a sweet caramelized sugar aspect with a little touch of cinnamon-like spice. Overwll not bad. As it warms up, the booze qualities start to take center stage and the rest of the qualities become a little muted.

The taste has a mild tang of bourbon that blends into caramel maltiness. Some suggestions of starch like pumpkin or yams is still present in this (which I like) despite the barrel aging. However, as the brew warms up, the focus shifts to be mainly centric to the barrel and the booze.

This is a medium to light bodied brew with a modest amount of carbonation. It is smooth and quite enjoyable but as the glass warms it becomes a little difficult to deal with. Gotta give these guys credit for style and originality points though. I just dont think the fluff brought much to the table. I enjoyed the base beer more on its own than what all transpired in the barrel. To each his own, still worth trying if you get the opportunity.
