Served on-tap at Al's of Hampden.
A - Pours murky orange with a nice pillow of one finger tall white head, dissipating down to a light film, leaving small spots of lace down the sides of the glass.
S - Smells of spicy rum, pumpkin pulp, vanilla, nutmeg, cinnamon, oak and some caramel malt sweetness. Unlike the bourbon version I get quite a bit of pumpkin in this one.
T - Starts off with a nice mix of fresh pumpkin pulp and the typical thanksgiving spices quickly giving way to some vanilla and caramel sweetness, oak and some spicy Caribbean rum. Finish has a bit of spice to it and a touch of sweetness, not lingering for very long after the finish.
M - Medium body with moderate carbonation. Smooth feel from start to finish. Much more balanced than the bourbon was.
O - I enjoyed the bourbon version of this one but this is my favorite of the two. It has plenty of pumpkin flavor and while the rum is strong it never overpowers the other flavors. Really nice barrel treatment, glad I got to try it.
