Served on cask at Al's of Hampden. Pours slightly hazy golden yellow with a half finger tall white head, quickly dissipating down to a light film, leaving spotty webs of lace on the glass.
Smells of sticky pine resin, bit of fresh cut grass, plenty of orange rind and zest, some light sweetness and some lightly toasted grains. Taste is pretty piney up front slowly being joined by the strong fresh zested oranges and other flavors mentioned above. Finish has plenty of hop bitterness with a bit more pithy fruit. Smooth, hoppy feel is very easy drinking.
Overall a very nice version of frontside. The oranges are a nice complement to the added hops and base DIPA and it is remarkably drinkable for the big flavors and ABV. Glad I was there when this was tapped, definitely worth the try.
