A - Pitch black pour with thin toffee colored lacing.
S - Big smoked coffee bean malt presence with some char in the base along with a slight coconut/vanilla sweetness on the nose.
T - Taste is different from the nose with the vanilla and coconut being more assertive (in a very good way). Chocolate and coffee bean malt base is present but the coconut and vanilla meld harmoniously over top for an impressive, well blended, flavorful finish.
M - Big, thick, silky, and with a little bit of oily viscosity for a slick texture that leaves a sticky residue on the lips and some warming in the back of the throat.
O - A big WOW right here! :o)-

On tap at Al's of Hampden/Pizza Boy Brewing in Enola, PA.
This one pours a very dark black color, with a small head, and not much lacing.
This smells like very roasty coffee, sweet creamy coconut, dark fudge, sweet and earthy vanilla, and milk chocolate.
Sunny Side Up was one of the original banger coffee stouts, and it's nice to revisit a new variant of it. The coconut plays very well with coffee, as it so often does, adding a creamy sweetness to a rich, roasty, and dark chocolatey coffee character. The vanilla is not as strong as the coconut or coffee, but it does add a nice slight dimension.
This is medium bodied, creamy, and nicely thick, with no real booziness and a nice drinkability.
I kind of knew that this was gonna be delicious when I ordered it, and I most certainly wasn't wrong.

I've had several versions of this beer over the years, and it just doesn't seem to improve at all. Appearance is fine enough, dark, stout-like. Some roast in the aroma, light coffee and ash. No coconut or vanilla whatsoever in the taste, just pretty much the same as the regular version...roasty malts, coffee grounds, fusel alcohol. Kind of stale and bland overall. Thin body for the style, and just really not very good overall.

Draft from tap @ The Beer Store - Malvern, PA
Solid stout base. Alcohol is hidden. Just a great base stout, solid. The coconut and vanilla are mild and subtle but do add another layer of complexity (or the only complexity) to this stout. May be a bit thinner on the tongue as the only negative.
