Pizza Boy Brewing "Hop Test #1 (Laced Ball)"
$6 / 25.4 Fl. oz. "crowler" from Twisted Jimmy's, Indiana, PA
Notes via stream of consciousness: Cloudy brass colored body beneath a short head of bright white that drops readily (perhaps this has to do with the canning?). Some spotty lacing is left behind but not much. Given that this is a wheat beer I'll accept the cloudiness, and also given that it's a kind of sour beer I can also live with lesser of a head, but this is beyond that with next to nothing and no lacing, so it'll have to take a ding in appearance. The aroma is limited with some tartish and perhaps tropical fruit, but also some soft berry. The flavor is much fuller than the aroma suggests. It's lightly tart but also lightly sweet. There's a minor bit of citrus pith or chalkiness/mineral, and a hodgepodge of fruitiness that includes tropical fruit (peach, tangerine, pineapple) as well as other fruits (apple, strawberry). It's balanced by a moderate bitterness but the light tartness helps it to finish dry. Medium-light in body and smooth with a mild carbonation. It's interesting, that's for sure, and it's nicely balanced, but it's just a bit lackluster overall.
