Notes:
A kettle soured version of our award winning double IPA, Fractured Visions. Notes of intense pineapple and mango with a melange of dank, tropical aromas and flavors leading into a dry, tart finish.

At long last, I am finally getting around to an extensive brewery horizontal to clear out a massive backlog in support of The CANQuest (tm). I knew that I had a number of their beers in abeyance, but it was not until I beCAN assembling them that I realized just how extensive my inventory actually was. At last, the penultimate CAN of my initial run-through! 15/16.
From the CAN: "Sour Fractured Visions Double India Pale Ale"; "Proudly Brewed In Pennsylvania"; "Pizza. Beer. Happy."; "Please Enjoy Fresh, Preferably With Pizza. Do Not Age."
I beCAN with a Crack! of the vent, followed by a slow, gentle C-Line Glug into the awaiting glass. I was saddened when this failed to produce any discernible head, so I performed an in-glass swirl to get a brief two fingers of fizzy, foamy, bone-white head that quickly reverted to wisps. Color was an oh-so-slightly-hazy Yellow-Gold (SRM = 4 - 5). Nose had a funky lemoniness, but where were the hops? This is supposed to be a DIPA! Mouthfeel was thin-to-medium, shoddy for the style. The taste had a light tartness, more lemony than anything else, but where were the hops?!? Finish was tart & dry, but it was nothing like the style descriptors. A near-total fail! YMMV.

Based upon the name and the taste, they tried to blend a sour and a DIPA. It just doesn't work for me. Some people might find this very refreshing on a hot summer day, but the sour/bitter blend is a no-go for me.
