moderate to vigorous pour yields a one inch white head over a slightly hazy golden body with lacing. Nose of slight citrus and wet leaves, with some herbal aroma as well; the word "weird" comes to mind. Taste is much better than the nose with the saffron, sumac, and berry flavors coming forward and finishing fairly dry. I'm not familiar at all with barberries but this is very unique and quite delicious, although the nose is quite different. Nice feel and overall, worth checking out. Cheers!!

 

So...wasn't sure about this one due to the overkill adjuncts including saffron, barberries, and sumac. Why? I guess they just got bored. All that aside, it is a pretty decent IPA. Nice herbal tropical nose where the mosaic comes through pretty nicely, although it isn't huge. Taste is somewhat juicy with more of that herbal character...maybe that's the saffron and sumac...and some bitterness into the finish. Starts out better than it finishes. I think this would be a pretty solid IPA with just the mosaic hops showcased, but the extras add as much as they subtract.
