Poured into a narrow pint glass: color is brown, a bit dense looking, head is light tan with fine bubbles and presents 1 finger thick and then dissipates to thin top but no lacing on the sides of the glass.
Smell is light cocoa and just a touch of caramel, light earthy hops.
Taste is malty - like almost chewy malt with toast, nuttiness, caramel, cocoa, toast, bread, soft fruitiness, hint of earthy hops.
Mouthfeel is moderate carbonation, moderate/strong sweetness, low bitterness, lingering sweetness but slow drying.
Overall - a lower end doppelbock that allows for some added sweetness and really goes for a bit malt flavor with a lighter malty aroma.

Al's of Hampden / Pizza Boy Brewing "Bock Dafuq Up"
16 fl. oz. can coded "462 DAFUQ 06.26.20 16:09", and sampled on 09/10/2020
$2.66 at the brewery
Look: Its opaque dark mahogany brown colored body is capped by a frothy tan head that unfortunately drops quite readily for the style and leaves only minimal lacing.
Smell: Nutty with a suggestion of cocoa powder and a flicker of delicate spiciness.
Taste: Malty and fairly rich with notes of bread, nuts, caramel, and milk chocolate. It's sweet but there's also a hint of fruitiness to it, and even more spiciness from the hops (and perhaps the alcohol) that help to balance it in coordination with a moderate bitterness. It finishes sweetish but drying with spiciness, caramel, and nuttiness lingering gently.
Feel: Medium-full in body and crisp with a standard carbonation level.
Overall: While on the lower end of the doppelbock spectrum at just 7.2% alcohol by volume, this remains a really well done and superbly balanced example of the style.

A slight fizzy light khaki colored head with limited retention... Mahogany in color... The nose is somewhat subdued, but still quite appealing - brown sugar, smoked meat and some crusty bread notes... The flavor profile exactly mirrors the nose but with a touch more intensity... On the fuller side of medium bodied with brisk carbonation... Smooth and sleek... A refreshing beer with lots of flavor and depth...
