A 1 L swingtop from Al's. Never got around to trying it until now.

A: The amber is on the darker end of the spectrum, more like a nut brown. The first few pours had a huge head, nearly overflowing and making a mess. As the ale settled down, the head receded and didn't lace much.

S: The malty aroma, toast and biscuit, is chewy and sweet. The maltiness has the bready feel of a lager with the residual fruitiness of ale yeast.

T: Caramel and toast, kissed with mild hoppiness. Syrupy at times, the ale lacks carbonation. That leaves it rather still, concentrating the flavors. Caramel lingers. Quaffable but the beers lack oomph. And I suppose that is the point - nothing fancy to hide the amber malts and soft hops.

M: Residual sweetness lasts, the caramel and yeast bringing fruit. What is lacks in pizzazz it makes up for in good taste.

Poured a deep amber color with moderate white creamy head. Smell was malty sweet with a nice hop balance. Taste also blended the malt and hops perfectly with a nice lingering dry finish. Extremely easy to drink. This could be a nice session beer. Perfect taste, perfect finsh. and at $6 for a growler fill you can't beat it.
