Draft offering at Pizza Boy served in a matching tulip shaped pint glass. The brew appears a copper color with a finger of white froth. A full wall of lace sticks to the glass and slowly fades.

The aroma contains citrus contrasted by sweet smelling caramel malt. A hint of toffee and a pleasant fruity base that doesnt screem lime but it does have a solid, enjoyable fruity to citrus feel.

The flavor has toffee and caramel malt sweetness upfront with a hint of citrus zest that doesnt readily scream lime but if you focus on it, it does evole more as it warms up.

This is a medium bodied brew with a modest amount of carbonation. It doesnt pack a whole lot of bitterness and with the fruit addition it would make a nice introductory ipa for someone who is curious about the style. On it's own it is pretty good but when compared against it's grapefruit competitor, I think it falls a little short.

First had: on tap at Pizza Boy

This was 2nd place for what now?

Cloudy copper-yellow pour with a half inch or so of frothy white head; decent retention and lacing. I expected a nice citrusy aroma, but instead got a nose full of caramel and toasted toffee. Hmm. One sip ushered in the sad truth: I committed to a pint of an IPA that was a total malt bomb. Caramel, malty sugars, maybe a subtle distant hint of vegetal lime pith that was buried under a plethora of heavy wort. It didn't taste bad necessarily, but this was no IPA. Mouthfeel was chewy, body was medium. Not a bad beer overall, but again, not a good example of the style. Could be that it was simply way, way past its prime and they were just trying to get rid of it.

Served on-tap at Ffej of July and later at Al's of Hampden.

A - Pours clear amber orange with a small one finger tall white head, dissipating down to next to nothing, leaving spotty trails of lace down parts of the glass.

S - Smells of caramel malt, lime leaves, mild citric and piney hops and some fresh cut grass. Considering they used no lime juice or zest in this beer, just lime leaves, the aroma still packs quite a bit of lime to it.

T - Starts off with some caramel malt sweetness that quickly gives way to hints of lime leaves, grass and the piney/citric hops. Hops are stronger here than in the nose, helping to offset some of the lime flavor. Finish is pretty bitter with a touch of sweetness, leaving the palate dried and lingering long after the finish.

M - Medium body with moderate carbonation. Smooth, hoppy feel with some light sweetness at the end of each sip. Pretty easy to consume, just not as easy as the Grapefruit is.

O - I like this one. The flavors are solid but it lacks the punch and drinkability of the grapefruit beer. Definitely worth a shot if you get the chance.

I picked this up at Al's poured chilled in a teku from a 1L growler.

The color is light golden amber with mild haze and thick white cream with avg bead and some lace. The smell has a mostly citrus hop nose with strong tropical aroma and light lime zest ester. The feel is great, very citrus tangy and moderate carbonation/feel with mostly bitter texture and dry finish.

The taste is great very nice hoppy citrus taste with some lime-like tangy juiciness with mild malt sweetness and low alcohol in the taste with some tangerine and lime qualities with nice acidity and full on hop flavors with tangy lightly lemony aspect and low mild floral tropical flavor with subtle spice in the finish. This is a Zesty beer, I loved it and would recommend it to any fan of IPA or lime for that matter.

Growler. Pours a hazy orange with a small white head. Aroma of sweet fruits, lime, citrus, grassy hops, stinky hops, caramel malt. Flavor of lime and sweet citrus up front with grassy hops and caramel malt in the finish. Very clean finish. Interesting, tasty IPA.
